Barcelona
The Grid-iron street model of Barcelona(http://www.spanishholidaysguide.com/articles/article_23.asp)
helps the tourist on foot to walk from Roman remains to the medieval city,
and then to the modern city. The momentous city center is quite flat,
while the modern city fans out towards the close hills, bounded by steep
streets that are indistinctly suggestive.
There is a beautiful road which runs from the city center to the waterfront,
thronged with crowds until late-night and lined by florists, bird sellers,
street entertainers, thieves, cafeterias, and restaurants and it is known
as La Rambla. When you walk through La Rambla one can see the world-famous
opera house. ElLiceu, the food market of La Boqueria and PlaçaReial
with its arches and palm trees are the other motivating buildings.
